Half the people who message us in their first week ask some version of the same question: "Wait, is this the app or the service?" It is a fair question, because two different things share the name IPTV Extreme. Here is the short version, then the long one.
Short version: a player app is the TV remote. A subscription is the channels. You need both, and they do not have to come from the same company.
The player app
There is an Android app called IPTV Extreme (and a paid IPTV Extreme Pro). It is made by an independent developer and it is a player, nothing more. Think of it like a DVD player with no DVDs. You open it, and it is empty until you give it a playlist.
Other players work the same way: IPTV Smarters, TiviMate, IBO Player, GSE. Each one has a different look, a different guide layout and different settings. None of them come with channels.
The subscription (that's us)
IPTV Extreme at iptvextreme.us.com is a live TV subscription. When you order, we give you a login (or a playlist link) that unlocks a channel lineup: US locals, ESPN and the other sports networks, news, kids channels, plus a big on-demand library of movies and series.
You load that login into whichever player you like best. That includes the IPTV Extreme app, if that is the one you already have.
Why the confusion matters
People sometimes install the IPTV Extreme app, see an empty screen and think something is broken. Nothing is broken. It is just waiting for a playlist. Others search for the app, land on a page selling a subscription and assume they are the same company. We are not, and we would rather say that clearly than have you find out later.
Which player should you use?
It depends on what you are watching on:
- Firestick or Fire TV: IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate. Our Firestick guide has the Downloader codes.
- Android phone: Smarters or IPTV Extreme Pro both work well.
- Samsung or LG TV: Smarters, IBO Player or SS IPTV from the TV app store. See the Smart TV guide.
- Apple TV or iPhone: iPlayTV or Smarters Player Lite from the App Store.
If you already use the IPTV Extreme app and like it, keep it. Our IPTV Extreme Pro setup guide shows you how to add your playlist and program guide in about five minutes.
What you get with the subscription
Right now the lineup has a little over 20,000 live channels from more than 80 countries, with the US section carrying local ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates, the major sports networks and league packages, news, kids and Spanish-language channels. On-demand has close to 100,000 movies and more than 24,000 series. You can browse all of it on the channel list page before you spend a cent.
