The IPTV Extreme app is a free Android player made by an independent developer, Paolo Turatti. It has more than 10 million installs on Google Play. It is also the reason a lot of people end up confused, because the app has no channels. Its own store listing says so in capital letters, and adds that the developer does not provide playlists.
So the short version is this: the app is the remote control, and a subscription like ours is the channels. You need both. This page covers the app itself, and at the end, how to fill it.
We are not affiliated with the developer of the IPTV Extreme app. We are a separate live TV service that happens to share the name, and our playlists work in the app.
Free, Pro or Lite: which one?
There are three versions on Google Play:
- IPTV Extreme (free): every feature, with ads. Fine for trying it out.
- IPTV Extreme Pro: a one-time purchase that removes the ads. Same features otherwise. Worth it if you use the app daily, mostly because ads on a TV screen get old fast.
- IPTV Extreme Lite: a lighter build for older or low-memory devices. Pick this one on a first-generation Fire TV Stick or a cheap Android box that struggles.
Your playlists, favorites and settings can be backed up from one and restored in another, so you are not locked in.
What the app can actually do
The feature list is long. The parts people use most:
- Three kinds of playlists: M3U links, Xtream Codes logins and MAG (Stalker) portals.
- TV guide (EPG): several guide sources at once, automatic updates, and a sliding guide you can scroll ahead in.
- Recording: record live TV with a time limit, set timers from the guide, and download on-demand titles to watch offline.
- Two built-in players (Advanced and Light), plus the option to use an external player like VLC or MX Player.
- Parental control with a PIN for adult or unwanted groups.
- Chromecast (still marked beta), remote control support, more than ten themes and channel logos (picons).
- VPN profiles (OpenVPN and WireGuard) you can push to the app from the web portal.
How to add a playlist
Open the app and go to Playlists, then tap +. You will see options for each playlist type:
- Xtream Codes: enter the server URL, username and password. This is the best option if your provider supports it, because movies and series get sorted with posters and the guide connects by itself.
- M3U link: paste the full URL. You may need to add the EPG link separately under the guide settings.
- MAG portal: enter the portal URL. The app uses the device MAC address shown in its settings.
Typing a long URL with a TV remote is painful. The developer runs a web portal at iptvextreme.eu where you enter your device MAC address and add the playlist from a computer instead. Our IPTV Extreme login guide walks through that step by step.
Setting up the TV guide
If you used Xtream Codes, the guide usually fills in by itself. For an M3U playlist:
- Open the menu and go to EPG.
- Add a new EPG source and paste the guide link from your provider (it often ends in xmltv.php).
- Press Update and give it a minute or two.
- If times look shifted, check the guide time offset and your device time zone.
Common problems and fixes
- Playlist keeps loading forever. Some users reported this after a recent update. Force-stop the app, clear its cache (not data), and open it again. If it keeps happening, switch between the Advanced and Light player in settings.
- "Version no longer supported." Very old builds are retired. Update from Google Play or the official portal. See our APK guide for safe sources.
- No sound on some channels. Change the audio decoder in the player settings, or try the other built-in player.
- Guide is empty. Update the EPG manually and confirm the EPG link is the one that matches your playlist.
Where to get a playlist that works in it
This is the part the app cannot help with. An IPTV Extreme subscription from us gives you an Xtream Codes login and an M3U link for 20,000+ live channels, US locals included, plus 98,000+ movies on demand. Both load straight into the IPTV Extreme app, and our step-by-step setup guide shows exactly where each detail goes.
Plans start at $19.99 with a 7-day money-back guarantee, and you can search the full channel list before you pay anything. See pricing.
Quick answers
Does the IPTV Extreme app come with channels?
No. The app is only a player and the developer does not provide playlists. You add your own playlist from a provider, such as an IPTV Extreme subscription, using an M3U link, an Xtream Codes login or a MAG portal.
Is IPTV Extreme Pro worth buying?
If you use the app every day, yes. Pro removes the ads and is a one-time purchase. Features are otherwise the same as the free version.
Is the IPTV Extreme app on iPhone or Roku?
No. It is an Android app, so it runs on Android phones, tablets, Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV devices. On iPhone, Apple TV or Roku, use a different player.
Can the IPTV Extreme app record live TV?
Yes. It can record live streams with a time limit, schedule recordings from the TV guide and download on-demand titles, as long as your device has enough storage.
